ABout David
David has been around healers most of his life. His first six years of life were spent in the home of his great-grandmother, Maria Lueres Maes, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She would have visitors for whom she would make teas and advise on health matters. She was an uncertified midwife having worked as a nurse’s assistant in the nearby Japanese internment camp. Her mother was a considered a very powerful woman in the area of Lincoln, New Mexico. She also was David’s birth doula, then caring for him in her home until he was six. In college, David took courses on healing while regularly attending Native American Church meetings and visiting with medicine men on the Navajo reservation or in Mexico. He has published scholarly essays on aspects of healing in Indigenous cultures. He is very conscientious of how to think about healing without appropriating Indigenous life ways. Over time, he excelled in the scholarly world until he became the director of the Archive of Healing at UCLA. His pedagogy includes practice based research, learning how to embody knowledge rather than simply study something objectively.
David also offers blessings of houses, clearings, individual or group meditation training/session, distance reiki, and sessions for animals. He has been a long time communicator with dogs particularly, though has been expanding to include all animal relatives. He has for decades been asked to consult on spiritual and paranormal situations that could benefit by consulting someone attuned to energy. While prices vary per situation, most mobile pet reiki visits start at 150.00, feng shui/spatial chi at 200.00,
and human energy work at 220.00. Please note that these are not 50 minutes "Western spa-like" visits. David works in multiple
modalities simultaneously, drawing from what he learned from his grandmother, his Indigenous teachers, and from Hiroshi Doi Sensei.
